Simplicity

So I mentioned to a friend the other day that I had a blog where I posted things that I created and she wondered how I had time to create things, let alone post them to a blog. Well, by the amout of creating and posting I've done lately I would say I have no time.
This month on Paper Crafters Anonymous I participated in a weekly mailing and sent this card to my partner. I was inspired by the simplicity in some of the recent cards on Nichole's blog. The colored cardstock, ink & stamps are all by Papertrey Ink.
Enjoy!

Inspiration from Nichole

So I have been frequenting Nichole Heady's blog and was inspired to make the following creations. The transparency card is way cool so you have to check out her blog for the tutorial. Thanks for visiting!

Just say no....

To patterned paper. Today's challenge at Caardvarks is just say no to pattern paper, so I'm throwing my hat in. I used StampinUp! cardstock and ink, Papertrey Women of Life stamp set, Sentiment is Studio G, eyelets are WeRMemory Keepers, Ribbon is Joann, Glitter is Hero Arts, I used a American Crafts white pen for the dots & an EK Succcess Scalloped corner punch with the guide removed for the scalloped, scalloped border.

Here piggy piggy piggy.....

So not only is my son's school celebrating National Pig Day, but one of my e-friends Ivanka is a big collector. So in honor of both I created my ode to pig card. I got all inspiration from a new card maker to me and boy is her stuff great!!! Go checke her stuff out at http://www.inmystamproom.com/ Thanks for the inspiration Lindsay!!!

Sometimes the simplest is the best.

I created this card as part of a challenge at {PCA}, creating a card with a Rubon. I had to have this package of rubons and have not really used them. This card is very simple, but I love it. It's a simple elegance. The sentiment is from the Out on a Limb set from Papertrey Ink.

I've been bitten by the bug!!!!

So I may ride the short bus to school or am not the brightest bulb in the box. I was a bit slow to take up the Cuttlebug bandwagon, but I've been bitten. I have been obsessed with the scalloped ovals by Spellbinders, where I discovered them over at http://www.papertreyink.com/. This is one of my new favorite websites and stamp companies!!!! So back to these scalloped ovals.... I have been wanting them for weeks now and finally succombed. I purchased them during the February release party over at Papertrey Ink along with their Women of Life stamp set. I can't wait for both of them to arrive! In the mean time I have created the card below based on the tutorial at Taylor VanBruggen's blog. It gave me the opportunity to use the Flower Cookie Cutter Die by Quickutz and Basic Grey's Two Scoops line. Give it a try!

I can scrapbook again......

Now that I am no longer a Christmas card factory I can get back to scrapbooking. It took me literally all day yesterday, and two trips to the scrapbook store, to do the layout of Reanne. Douglas's layout went super fast...... go figure!

Cardsstock - DCWV, Bazzil, Archivers; bookplate - Joann; journaling stamp - Autmn Leaves; ink - Stampin-Up.

PP - Making Memories; cardstock - Hobby Lobby, Archivers; ink - Versa Mark; diecut letters and flower (used as both a die cut and stamp) - Quickutz; journaling stamp - Autumn Leaves.

Christmas - Part Two

So I am getting caught up on posting and had to share this picture of my beautiful kids in their new Christmas finery.

Merry Christmas!

I was like one of Santa's elves before Christmas - a regular gift and card factory. I make about 70+ Christmas cards each year. This year the plan of attack was to create several designs so I didn't get bored. This is one of my favorites.

The pp and rub-on are Making Memories, card base is Joann, stamp is Hot off the Press, ink is Versa Mark, fabulous two toned, shimmery embossing poweder is Moon Glow.

Give a girl some paper mache and watch out!!!

I am addicted to paper mache and when my friend Alicia showed me her paper mache tree from HL I knew I had to have one! My mother in law wanted the string of bulbs made into the shape of a tree and this worked perfectly!
Here's the before and after.

Look Mom, I can do my own hair!

So my daughter was down with a virus this week and she has to be 24 hours without a fever to return to preschool or day care which was Thursday. I work from home and she came down to greet me with her hair in disarray. I asked her if she wanted me to put a "pony" (pointail holder) in it and then I said, "or do you want to do it?" I wish I could have captured he face. She thought for a moment, and I could see the wheels turning thinking I never thought about putting things in my own hair, and she finally responded with YES! She immediately marched upstairs to remove the many "pretties" (ponytail holders & barettes) from her dolls hair - which by the way are really meant for my daughter.
A bit later she comes back down to see me and is extremely proud. I couldn't resis the Kodak/scrapable picture moment. She has a small pony tail in the front on each side of her head, there are several barettes and finally one pony tail in the back with two pony tail holders in the back.

True strength is delicate.

So i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with life lately, as we all do from time to time, and found inspiration from a recent card I made for someone else. Isn't it funny how you can intend for a message to be forothers when in fact you are the one that really needs to hear it. I love how God works that way. Enjoy!

Crafting vs. Studying

At first thought this may be a simple choice, right? Well this past week (who am I kidding it's the past two weeks) I have chosen crafting. Now not to overwhelm you with all that I have accomplished I have chosen a gift bag and card to share with you. Keep in mind this was created two hours before the pool/birthday party with my 4 year old chomping at the bit to dispatch-us-forth-with to the pool immediately. It's always gratifiying to take something as simple as a plain gift bag and dress it up!
I use Dora paper and stickers (that i just had to have when my daughter was obsessed with Dora), the negative of a Making Memories Chipboard number, We R Memory Keeprs washer, Ribbon - Joanns, Happy Birthday stamp - Hero Arts (mayber?), Celebrate stamp - Inkadinkadoo.
As a foot note I premade a page ready for a first day of preschool picture. Hopefully I'll have the photo printed before she starts kindergarten! :)
