Felt Flower Pin Tutorial

I had a couple requests to show you how to create the felt flower pin I showed in the post below. You'll need some felt, two sizes of dies (can be a flower, circle or oval), thread, button, hot glue and a pin. First, die cut 5 large and 9 small 'petals' for your flower. Here I used the Delightful Dalia Papertrey Ink dies. You'll notice later I used a different button as the button below ended up being too large. Take your thread and weave it in and out of the bottom of the first 'petal', seen below.
Do the same for the next petal. Pull the thread to gather the felt at the bottom of the petal. Here's the first two petals pulled together.
Continue this process for all 5 of the large petals. Once all five petals are complete, join petal 5 to petal 1. Pull the thread as tight as you want to get the desired amout of gathering. Begin the same process for the smaller petals.
Until all 5 small petals are complete. Here I sticth them down to the large petal base as it makes it a bit easier to work with.
Add the remaining three petals on top of the second layer and secure down.
Choose a button for the center of the flower and stitch to the center of the flower. One your button is in place take the final small petal and cut two vertical slits and a horizontal slit in the felt. This creates a slot to fit in the pin without it showing on the back of the flower.
Glue down the flap to the bottom of the pin.
Then glue the entire pin back to the back of the felt flower.
Voila! Your completed felt flower pin.
If you create one, please leave your blog address in the comments. I'd love to see what you come up with!

It's almost time......

for Santa to come! Yipee! Oh how I love Christmas. I've been busy making goodies, cards, shipping out packages, etc. and have negletec the blog-o-ronie. So I have a fascination lately with felt. I decided to pick up some at Joann and try my hand at hand made felt flowers.
I used my Delightful Dahlia PTI dies to create the petals and a button from my stash. For my first flower I think this turned out really good! I think the ladies in my family will be getting some of these for the holidays!
Today I'm also sharing one of the Christmas cards I sent out this year. I think it is just stunning! The Through the Tress set form PTI reminds me of the winter aspens of Colorado with a lone cardinal. Thanks for stopping by!

I survived!

No pictures today, sorry. Just a quick post to say I survived Santa's Sweatshop...errr I mean Workshop. LOL! What a day - not bad, not great, but a day. I've now experienced this and not sure I want to sign up for it again. I guess I can mark that off my bucket list. :)
